Workability

Designer

Designer
  • Establish that in-situ concrete element achieves the required properties
  • Specify level of testing required on site:
    • Fresh concrete
    • Hardened concrete
  • Testing of concrete in final structure /element in case of doubt:
    • e.g. cover to reinforcement, strength (cores)

Builder

  • Facilities for storage of cubes, tank, temperature control, testing equipment, etc.
  • Tests on fresh concrete to establish compliance with specification
    • E.g. Consistence, air content etc.
  • Tests on hardened concrete to establish compliance with specification
    • E.g. Cube strengths
  • Compare results to compliance criteria in Standard
  • In-situ testing – Cores, Rebound Hammer, Pull Out
  • Is audit supplier’s batching plant required

Producer

  • Routine testing to demonstrate conformity with Standard
    • For fresh concrete – slump testing
    • For hardened concrete – cube testing
  • Analysis to show conformity
  • Testing required for development of project specific mixes
